Bomb Pop Cocktail

Bomb Pop Cocktail is a layered red-white-blue drink made by floating grenadine, coconut rum (or vanilla vodka), and blue raspberry liqueur over ice for crisp separation. Built in a tall glass, it finishes with a quick lemon-lime soda splash and a cherry-and-straw garnish.

Ingredients

Bomb Pop Cocktail
  • 1 oz grenadine syrup For the red bottom layer; pour slowly so it settles without mixing.
  • 1 oz coconut rum or vanilla vodka Add over the back of a bar spoon to form the white middle layer.
  • 1 oz blue raspberry vodka or blue curaçao Float gently over the spoon for the electric blue top layer.
  • 0.5 oz lemon-lime soda Use a small splash to finish without disturbing the layers.
  • 1 ice cubes Fill glasses to the top so the layers stack cleanly.
  • 1 Maraschino cherry and striped straw for garnish Garnish at the end; serve immediately for the sharpest tri-color look.

Equipment

  • 1 bar spoon

Method

Layer the tri-color drink
  1. Fill a tall cocktail glass with ice to the top so there’s enough cold surface for clear layering.
  2. Pour grenadine syrup slowly over the ice; let it settle at the bottom to form the red layer without stirring.
  3. Hold a bar spoon just above the ice and slowly pour coconut rum or vanilla vodka over it to create the white middle layer.
  4. Pour blue raspberry vodka or blue curaçao over the spoon again to float and form the electric blue top layer.
  5. Add a small splash of lemon-lime soda and garnish with a maraschino cherry and striped straw; do not stir before serving.

Notes

Pro tip: pour each liquid slowly over the spoon and keep the flow gentle—speed and splashing are what cause bleeding between layers. Store leftovers in the fridge up to 24 hours, but layers will soften (best served right away); freezing is not recommended. For a lower-sugar option, swap grenadine syrup for a sugar-free grenadine substitute while keeping the same floating technique.
