Ingredients

Cocktail sausages
  • 2 packages (14 oz each) cocktail sausages
Honey mustard glaze
  • 0.33333333333333 cup honey
  • 3 tbsp whole grain mustard
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
Toppings
  • 1 tsp sesame seeds
  • chopped fresh chives for garnish

Equipment

  • 1 cast iron skillet

Method

Brown the sausages
  1. Melt the butter in a large skillet over medium heat, then add the cocktail sausages and brown for 5-6 minutes, turning as needed until browned.
  2. Add the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds, stirring, until fragrant.
Make the glaze and simmer
  1. Whisk the honey, whole grain mustard, Dijon mustard, and soy sauce in a bowl, then pour over the sausages.
  2. Simmer the mixture for 8-10 minutes over medium heat, stirring often, until the glaze turns thick and sticky and coats the sausages.
Finish and serve
  1. Sprinkle the sesame seeds and chopped fresh chives over the sausages for a fresh top note and added crunch.
  2. Serve warm with toothpicks so the sticky glaze drips with each bite.

Notes

Pro tip: Stir more frequently near the end of the simmer to prevent scorching and to keep the glaze glossy and clingy. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days in a covered container; rewarm in a skillet over low heat until hot. Freezing isn’t recommended because the glaze can lose its sticky texture after thawing. For a gluten-aware swap, use a gluten-free soy sauce while keeping everything else the same.
