Ingredients

Ham glaze
  • 1 fully cooked bone-in spiral-sliced ham (7-8 pounds) Use a spiral-sliced ham; keep it bone-in for best moisture.
  • 1 cup brown sugar Packed brown sugar for a thicker, stickier glaze.
  • 1 can (20 oz) pineapple rings, juice reserved Reserve the juice for whisking into the glaze.
  • 0.25 cup honey
  • 2 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 0.25 tsp ground cloves
  • 0.5 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 maraschino cherries for garnish Use as garnish and as centers for the pineapple rings.

Equipment

  • 1 Dutch oven

Method

Add ham and make glaze
  1. Place the ham flat-side down in a large slow cooker and trim if needed for the lid to close.
  2. Whisk 1/2 cup reserved pineapple juice, brown sugar, honey, Dijon mustard, ground cloves, and ground cinnamon until smooth and the brown sugar dissolves.
  3. Pour half the glaze over the ham, working it between the slices so it coats the spiral.
Top and cook
  1. Arrange pineapple rings over the ham and secure each ring with a toothpick, then add a cherry in each center.
  2. Cover and cook on LOW for 4-5 hours, until heated through to 140F, keeping the glaze glossy and the pineapple rings set.
Serve
  1. Spoon the juices from the slow cooker over the ham with the remaining glaze, then serve warm.

Notes

Pro tip: Let the ham sit for 5 minutes after cooking so the sticky glaze thickens and clings better to the slices. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 4 days; freeze up to 2 months (thaw overnight in the fridge). For a lighter option, use light brown sugar and replace honey with maple syrup.
